What? A cooking class making obanzai style food in the Fushimi area of Kyoto.
When? Mondays and Saturdays, 2:30 – 4:30
Where? Shokuiku Kitchen Ishiguro, located in the Nayamachi Shotengai(covered shopping street) in Fushimi. Easy access from central Kyoto or Osaka. We will pick you up at the North Exit of Chushojima Station located on the Keihan train line at 2:20. Please try to be on time!
Who? The class will be led by Yoshie Ishiguro, owner of Shokuiku Kitchen Ishiguro, a deli /grocery store that has a wonderful new cooking studio. She is a superstar in the world of obanzai cooking and food in general. If you want to know something about Japanese food, she will tell you!
How Much? 6,000 Japanese Yen per person to be paid in cash on the day of the lesson.
This is an open class, so you might be cooking with other particpants. The cooking class will be taught by Yoshie Ishiguro with English interpretation. You will learn the basics of cooking Kyoto style obanzai food. What is obanzai? It’s the everyday food that people in Kyoto eat. The basic philosophy is to use seasonal ingredients in a simple way. It’s not fancy, but it tastes really good. Plus, it’s very healthy. In this hands on cooking class, you will cook rice, miso soup and 3 more dishes. It should be enough for a meal. Each dish will feature seasonal ingredients, one of the keys to food in Kyoto. Don’t miss out on this excellent opportunity to learn the basics of obanzai style cooking.
